The thing about parenting is...(insult joke)

Parenting is an interesting expererince.
Mostly because there are millions of people who have done it before you, who all have experience, wisdom and knowledge to help you through this journey.
But when you ask/get offered advice, rarely does it seem applicable to your current circumstance.
It's always like, "to be a good parent spend twice as much time and half as much money."
And your like- that's cool and all, but how does that get my baby to sleep through the night?

So, anyways.
With all this wisdom all these parents tell me- why has no one ever told me how much toddlers LOVE CHOCOLATE MILK?!?!?

Before I went to CA I knew Sariah liked it. But while I was there I learned how much she LOVES IT. It can calm down any tantrum and make her forget about and forgive me for leaving her for 3 hours to go watch Les Mis.

It's magic.
And crack.
It's like a magic drug.

So, anyways. Tonight we went to dinner.
We realized buffets are great for toddlers. All that guilt about leaving a restaurant dirty is gone- because hey, it's a buffet a and it's a mess to begin with. Plus, you can always find something to please a toddlers appetite. And she is still free- its a win all over.

We got Sariah chocolate milk to drink- you know, to be nice parents. We sat down as got her some fruit to eat- to try and get her some healthy food. It didn't take.
Oh, but that chocolate milk- it just slides down. That straw sure wasn't helping things either.

The rest of night went with Joe and I sampling EVERYTHING that buffet had (many things we never would have cared for) to get her to eat SOMETHING OTHER THAN CHOCOLATE MILK.
Basically this is how it went:

Joe: Here Sariah, try some rice. *plays with it, then grabs Joes taco instead, dips it in blue cheese dressing, and takes and sip of milk.*
Me: Sariah, eat a potato- I promise you will love it. *considers this notion. Then assumes I am an enemy and pushes every plate in her reach away, then reaches for her milk.*
Joe: Here, eat some corn. *takes corn. Spits corn out. Consumes milk.*

That girl nearly downed a pint of chocolate milk! Along with some sausage and popcorn chicken and we managed to get her to eat. She even refused pie!!!

That girls crazy for her chocolate milk!

So, parents of the world- you have been warned.

  1. Ha! Sounds like a smart little girl to me! My bro would put root beer floats in my baby sister's bottle and she would ALWAYS calm down.
Yes, I now know how awful that is for little ones and feel bad now we ever let that happen... but she lived, thank goodness, with no teeth rot or stomach ulcers! We were too young to be babysitting!
Ha, parenting advice, best I've gotten is "just do what you want!" Well, OKAY! :D
