Movie Monday: Not a lot of turkey.

I actually refrained myself from over-eating on Thanksgiving.
I sort of regret it.
I think Joe did to when we got home and realized we had NO food in our place and had to make a quick run to McDonalds for dinner. Like really, who in the world eats and McDonalds after they eat a Thanksgiving meal? (Okay, granted, it was about 5 hours after we ate. But still.)
Now, I just dream of Christmas dinner. And Christmas treats. And how I will now make up for it with baking lots of Christmas cookies. Oh, how sweet it shall be (Oh my heck, look at that! I made a pun).

Anyways, here we are- at Monday. Movie Monday.
You can all officially start celebrating Christmas.
I am not one of those "grouchy-no-Christmas-until-after-Thanksgiving" kind of people, but I definitely agree with celebrating one Holiday at a time. But mostly for my sake. Mostly, I don't want to get sick of Christmas/lose the spirit, because I tend to OD on Christmas during the month.
Maybe I should change my ways. Have a heart full of Christmas all year round.
But let's get real. I can only spare so much room for Santa in my heart. 25 day will have to be it (plus the days after Thanksgiving).

So, in tribute of the upcoming Holiday, a scene from one of my FAVORITE Christmas movies.
Enjoy. =]

A turkey for those thoughts?

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving.
I am excited to stuff my belly full of scrumptious foods you get only this time of year.

I was also really debating on if I should do a 'grateful' post. I feel like they have become so...redundant, pointless, meaningless, with Facebook and all the latest trends. But then a blogger commented how it isn't the worst bandwagon you could be part of. And that is a VERY good point.
So, here we go.

1. I am grateful for Pinterest.

 (Sorry it's so blurry)

Because of it, I have more ideas than I know what to do with.

2. I am grateful for internet and social media.
I gotta admit, sometimes I really hate this one. But when I read things like this, it makes me laugh, then I realize that Joe and I- we are not alone in this crazy world.

3. I am grateful that it really IS a small world after all.
(Which, btw, was definitely one of my favorite rides when I was little. I distinctly remember my sisters asking my parents WHY they let me buy a fake phone that would only play that song over and over and over. It was a fun car ride home from Disney Land).
And speaking of this, we just so happened to move to Nebraska the same time as another family from the same area in Ca moved here too. We didn't know each other, but had a common friend who recommended we meet up. The wife and I have been hanging out with our kids every week since we got her. The other day, Joe realized he knows her- he was friends with her little brother growing up, but they got out of touch in HS. SMALL WORLD, RIGHT???

4. I am grateful for stupid red squiggly lines that should go jump of a cliff and dive into a pit of molases and hungry children. AKA auto-correct stuff.
I wouldn't DARE haunt you with those death threats that torment out writing in this vastly growing computer/technology world. But, as much as I hate them, I suppose they make me be a better person. Or at least a better writer.

5. I am grateful for all the things I SHOULD be (and am) grateful for.
I won't forget to mention them.
My husband.
My daughter.
My parents and siblings.
Donuts.
The Gospel of Jesus Christ.
School.
Dogs.
Sunny, warm days.
Bath & Body Works.
Warm, fluffy towels straight from the dryer.
Chinese food.
Little old women who give my daughter free donuts.
Women who stand in front of me in line with 3 children (and one on the way), fully covered in her religious attire (arab), and smile at me- and tell their daughter to say hi to me in her broken English. It makes the world seem a bit smaller and closer together.
The fact that my daughter knows the delete and escape buttons on the computer. And only those buttons. Not yet. Not quite ready to be grateful for that.
My daughter's love of books.
Libraries.
Date nights.
Warm baths that are almost too hot to stand.
Getting outside.
Being surrounded in something that you have no control over, and feeling completely alone and alive.
Being part of something bigger than yourself.
Jokes on popsicle sticks.
Fortune cookies.
Breadsticks at Olive Garden. And Red Lobster. Mmmmm.
Chairs.
Heating pads.
Sunflowers. And their seeds.
Ladybugs.
Corn on the cob.
Journals.
The ability to talk.
Boxes to carry and hold all our stuff while we move (and live out of while we look for a dresser. Still).
Netflix.
Creativity.
7/11. The day. In July. And the place. Oh, slurpees.
Writing.
Adventure.

Movie Monday!!!

Ahh Thanksgiving week.
I am so excited.
I am excited to eat turkey. And pies. Oh, I love pie.
But mostly, I am excited for Joe to not have to go to school.

Lately, I am experiencing this odd sense of relief of not going to school. For the first time since graduating.
Even though I have all year off of school and don't have to worry about school, I am probably more excited about this break than I should be. Really, I am just being selfish and see the opportunity that Joe gets to be home and help me with Sariah. =]
But still. Lately, the fact that I am NO LONGER A STUDENT is hitting me hard.
Like today we were driving home from picking Joe up at school, and we saw the Toyota dealership, and Joe asked, "Want to go car shopping?" (Not that we have the money to do so- but it is always fun to look! Unless you have a squirmy toddler. Then the only fun you will have is to put her in the back of a truck and watch her face light up as she walks around the wobbly bed). But, still, my heart was about to go into that panic mode it did while I was in school- debating on if I had time to devote to car shopping, or if I had too much homework to do. But then I realized, I had nothing else planned. Dinner was in the slow cooker, we had the dogs, we had time. We could do it.
And it was so exciting!
I felt like a mom on senior mom ditch day or something!

So anyways, on to Thanksgiving and Movie Monday!
So when I think of Thanksgiving, I always end up thinking about the allState commercial about the high amount of people who attempt and fail at deep frying their turkeys every year.
I find this commercial highly entertaining for some reason.
Then it gets me thinking about all the other amazing insurance commercials out there.
Really, for something so stupid and irritating as car insurance, they sure do make it up with their commercials. Like really, who doesn't love a good mayhem commercial?
But going on...it then made me think of Trunk Monkey.
Ever heard/seen trunk monkey?
No?
Well, your about to.
