The Noodle Nazi

On Friday Joe, Sariah and I went out to dinner.
At our Chinese spot, to be exact. (You know, the one I mentioned we were ecstatic to find a few months back).
Anyways.
We sat down and looked over the menu to decide what to get. They have a LOT of options and we have only been there about 4 times, and we always like to try something new.
But anyways- we order pretty much the same but twist it up.

Tofu & vegetables (because its SO GOOD and we like to be healthy)
Crab ragoon & egg roll
A new dish (chicken curry this time- yummmmmm)
And a side of noodles.

We quickly discovered at our first visit that the side of noodles was essential to a happy meal with Sariah.
Sariah loves pasta- and hasn't developed a taste for tofu yet (and was rather picky that first night about eating anything) so we harp order her noodles- and we have kept it up ever since, because hey- who doesn't love some noodles for dinner?

This night though, was different.

First they brought us our egg roll and ragoon. Sariah, after eating her share, Precedes to lick the sweet & sour sauce that is left off her plate doggy style (I thank her father for showing her just that morning how to drink milk out of the bowl).

They brought us our food.
Placed in on the table.
But the mistake of placing the ENTIRE plate of noodles in front of Sariah was made.

She would not allow us to move it, or to take ANY noodles from that plate.

So, while Joe and I ate our curry & tofu, Sariah dived into an entire plate full of noodles. Throwing a huge fuss if we even tried to take one.

And thus was born, the noodle nazi.
(Told you she was my daughter)

Barefoot & Pregnant

Today was one if those,
"Oh, I am being emotional? Sorry, I didn't notice. I was too busy being pregnant."
Kinda days.
Nothing bad happened. Just my emotions.
In fact, something AMAZING happened!
*drum roll*
We found "our" place!!!
And by "our place" I clearly and obviously mean the stand by date night place of Chineae cuisine.
Everyone needs a "to-go" place for the casual date. And of course it should be Chinese.
We are pretty excited. You know good things are bound to happen when there are groups of Chinese people TALKING Chinese in a Chinese restaurant- that are eating, not working.
Ya. I know, we win.

So, about being barefoot & pregnant.
This is basically how pregnancy works for me:

1. You smile a lot.
2. Your feet swell and you wear the same 2 pairs of shoes- and no shoes whenever you can.
3. You have gall bladder attacks causing you to re-discover your love of sorbet and ordering tofu at Chinese restaurants.
4. Your husband massages your hips a lot- because they hurt, a lot.

The end. That's my story.
I pretty much love that every pregnancy is different from one women to the next- especially when every women I know is (basically) pregnant, it make me cherish those gall bladder attacks a bit more. :)

A volcano in our kitchen

Joe loves me.
So much, in fact- he has taken it on himself to make me orange chicken and to fine-then the recipe for our family.
Tonight, we made orange chicken.
It was nearly 8:00 pm, and this pregnant chic was getting cranky as she warded off the toddler with measuring spoon in hand from the dog food.
But at last- dinner was almost ready.
Rice was done.
Chicken was just about cooked through.
All that was left to do was add the cornstarch which he had mixed together with some water in a little bowl, to the orange sauce.
I watched him add it.
THEN, to both of our surprise- we watched as the orange sauce preceded to fizz up and bowl over the pot.

*blink blink*
Me: what was that?
Joe: cornstarch. *looks at counter and picks up container* OR baking soda.
Me: *noticing the vinegar sitting out with the rest of the ingredients* you used vinegar, huh?
Joe: yep.

There went my dinner being done "on time" and to having a clean stove for more than an hour.
But hey, it was fun while it lasted.

I forgot my birthday?

Not really.
But I didn't blog.
Because my computer sorta died on me...happy birthday, right? Anyways, I am sorta stuck with phone blogging till we figure out my computer.
I mean, we DO have another perfectly good working computer at home- but, it's a PC. And a desktop. You understand my dilemma, right? I can't seem to explain it to Joe.

Anyways. I had a realization yesterday.
For the last 4-5 years I have thought getting older sucked because birthdays army as fun.
Then it hit me- those birthdays were all in the cold. Growing up I never thought of having a winter birthday. The weather never affected my birthday. I mean we weren't going to the beach, but I do remember one yer having a water balloon fight.
So, fast forward to life in Idaho/Nebraska.
No sun.
Wind.
Cold.
Snow everywhere.

There is not a chance you wanna go celebrate outside.
So, now I have to live with a winter birthday. :/

On the bright side- I got Chinese food on my birthday. And that makes EVERYTHING better :)
