Baby & Nap Time

I hate taking naps.
I would much rather just push through with the day, drink some water/soda, or have a headache- than take a nap.
I hate waking up and feeling like I wasted time. I hate waking up grumpy. Which, I normally do.

Unfortunately, Sariah has taken after me in that manner.
Normally, her ideal (or mine) lasts about 2 hours.
But she normally will wake up an hour through and cry, and wont go back to sleep, unless I lay down with her. Then she will sleep for about 1- 11/2 hours. THEN she wakes up happy.
Yesterday we were in a bit of a rush, and when she woke up after an hour nap- we needed to get going.
It saddened me, because it took her forever to be happy. But, I can't keep catering to her with a new baby coming- right? She needs to learn to sleep on her own.
So, How do I solve my nap time problem? She wakes up in the morning happy, but nap time is normally an issue.
Oh, the wo's of parenthood.

On the other hand, this pregnancy is so different than when I was pregnant with Sariah.
-I have much less energy (I would hike, walk daily, garden like a beast, and go to school with Sariah).
-I actually kinda have 'cravings' (I am still reluctant to admit this)
-I am sick all the time.
-I am so picky
-Moddy. Emotional. Hormonal. Yep.
-My back hurts more (it did with Sariah- but this is worst)
-I am already ready for this baby to be out....I was always so content with Sariah in me.

Just different. In so many ways.
Probably the biggest, is that I am in NO way ready for this baby to come out emotional- physically, yes.  Totally vice versa with Sariah.
I have no clue how to prepare with Baby 'Husker'.
Working, and Joe being gone a lot, and having a toddler makes it hard.
But yes, I just don't know how to prepare.
Probably getting a baby space would help- but, any other suggestions???

And that is all.

Barefoot & Pregnant

Today was one if those,
"Oh, I am being emotional? Sorry, I didn't notice. I was too busy being pregnant."
Kinda days.
Nothing bad happened. Just my emotions.
In fact, something AMAZING happened!
*drum roll*
We found "our" place!!!
And by "our place" I clearly and obviously mean the stand by date night place of Chineae cuisine.
Everyone needs a "to-go" place for the casual date. And of course it should be Chinese.
We are pretty excited. You know good things are bound to happen when there are groups of Chinese people TALKING Chinese in a Chinese restaurant- that are eating, not working.
Ya. I know, we win.

So, about being barefoot & pregnant.
This is basically how pregnancy works for me:

1. You smile a lot.
2. Your feet swell and you wear the same 2 pairs of shoes- and no shoes whenever you can.
3. You have gall bladder attacks causing you to re-discover your love of sorbet and ordering tofu at Chinese restaurants.
4. Your husband massages your hips a lot- because they hurt, a lot.

The end. That's my story.
I pretty much love that every pregnancy is different from one women to the next- especially when every women I know is (basically) pregnant, it make me cherish those gall bladder attacks a bit more. :)

The little things, eh?

People are always talking about the little things that make "it" worth it.
Here is my list today:

-Scout likes to annoy Penny. And it is visibly clear and funny. Like the other day Penny was laying in her dog bed, and Scout came over all non-chalantly, and just sat on her head. Thought nothing of it. Till Penny threw a fit. Now Scout does the whole "I'm not touching you" thing and just lays her face as close as possible to Penny. Penny hates it, but can't quite complain. See below.

- I have really good pregnancies. So far. Other than my gall bladder. And my hips. My hips hurt a lot, but there is a plus side- Joe gives me massages a lot. Lately, to better direct him where exactly I need him to massage on my hips, I have taken on referring to my body as land. So, I use phrases such as "inland" or "out to sea". Joe doesn't enjoy it as much- but I find it hilarious.

-Sariah left her camelback at the Children's Museum. And yes, SHE left it. She snuck into my bag and took it out without me knowing. When I got home and realized a few hours later, I was really upset about the idea of replacing it. (Last time we lost a water bottle was during the big flu- and any lost water bottles were thrown away). SO I was really happy when I called and found out they still had it . Being reunited was a blessed moment.

-Going through my phone to delete pictures and realizing Sariah trying to take some as well :) it may be just her forehead, but how could I throw that away?!?

The end.

Baby Time

I swear, one time- somehow, somewhere, some place, I will be pregnant when no one else is. Or at least when less than 86% of the population is. It's doable, I am sure.

Other news- I appreciate all the congrats. =]
We aren't sure when the baby is due.
We went in for a doctor appt the end of January and they told me I was about 12-14 weeks along and due about July 10th-20th. I go in 4 weeks later and the doctor tells me I am about 15-16 weeks along and due early/mid August.
Confusing, right?
Sorry, horrible phone picture. And a bad pose of myself. I think I am trying to make myself look more pregnant than I am, because I am pretty sure I didn't look that big this morning. But anyways, I am about 14 weeks here.

I just hope this baby and Sariah don't share the same birthday. That would be awkward. What would you even call that? The Twilight Twins? (As in the Twilight Zone, not the vampires. Darn Twilight, ruins everything).

So far, I think it is a boy. I have pretty easy pregnancies, but this one has been slightly more difficult. IE. I got a sinus cold for two weeks- which apparently occurs 1/3 pregnancies.

Also, we don't know if we are finding out the gender.
For those of you knew around here, we didn't find out what Sariah was until she was born- our choice, not because the ultrasound didn't show. And we LOVED it. It made it a lot more exciting, and I promise- it is not as hard as everyone thinks it is going to be. But since it was my choice last time, I am leaving it up to Joe this time to decide- and he hasn't. But we still have another 4 weeks till our next ultrasound.

Also, Sariah has quite the attitude. She is kinda like a teenager, and not even two yet. No lie. She just waves you off when she doesn't want you, and comes crying when she needs something.
I know your saying, "Typical toddler" but no- she isn't. And if your convinced she is, let me believe she isn't. Okay?
Tonight I was taking a bath and Sariah woke up (an hour after she went to bed). Joe went to console her back to sleep, and he fought long and hard but she won (I swear- she is stubborn when she wants something). So, Joe picked her up and she pointed down the hallway. He walked to the family room where she looked around and notice I was not there. So onward she pointed to our bedroom. We walked in and she studied the bed, and upon not finding me she noticed our bathroom light was on and pointed at the door. Joe said "Nope", and turned around. She then said "mama" and started to cry. So, Joe gave up and upon seeing me, she didn't smile, or reach for me. Just nodded in approval that I was there and waited for me. Then went to bed the instant I sat down with her in my arms.
She is a conniving little thing.

And that, is the baby time for today.
I try not to overload people- because I don't think that people other than my family cares about this stuff too much. And I wish I had a funny story for you.

Oh, Sariah LOVES to dance with Scouts stub of a tail. We actually call it a nub a lot, and it is a bit strange, but Sariah grabs onto that thing and walks around with Scout everywhere.

The End.

Shake and French Fries?

When I was about 15 years old, our group of Young Women's at church went on a trip (I believe it was the week we went to Girls Camp). As we were driving home, we decided to stop at In-N-Out for some food. At this time I was not a big fan of In-N-Out, so I oped to just get some french fries and a milkshake. There were not too many of us girls, but enough because this trip we had brought along a few girls who were not of our faith. So, altogether we probably had about 15 girls and 6 or so leaders. We were all hudled into a corner eating our food, happy to be headed home to warm bed and real showers.
One of the girls that came with us I happened to know from school, but not very well. I shall call her Betty for the stories sake. I knew that she didn't grow up in the best environment- so I was glad that she (not being part of our church) came along with us on our camping trip.

Via

Being the typical teenager, I was happily dipping my french fries into my shake and eating them (This is good to other people too, right? Because I am fairly sure I am not alone in this). Betty was sitting across from me, and out of no where asked (rather loudly too): "ARE YOU PREGNANT?".

Now, me, being the good-Mormon girl that I am, wanted to laugh. Why in the world would she think I am pregnant? But, I was also rather embarrased. I mean, I had leaders sitting around me- and I had JUST gotten back from a CHURCH camping trip. At the age of 15.
I replied that I wasn't, and she said, "Oh- because whenever my mom is pregnant, she craves french fries and shakes".

I believe everyone then chuckled and sighed- like they would have believed I was actually pregnant?!?!- and continued to talk about strange food cravings.

Anyways, today, I had french fries and a milk shake. It made me smile and think back to that experience, where as a young, modest 15-year old, I was accused of being pregnant. A girl who hadn't even kissed a boy yet. In front of a group of church leaders. What an awkward encounter.

Except this time, I gladly can say,
"Yes- I am pregnant. And I eat french fries and shakes".

That's awkward....

I constantly tell Joe about all the awkward thing's I read/hear about during my day.
Normally it is via Facebook or blogs.

Like, reading a post about a new "fur baby" and getting confused because the children have dog names. Really?

Or when people cut you off, but wave. Like that just made the whole thing ok. I bet they don't do that when they cut off a police officer.

Or when your wonderful husband forgets the dog leashes at the dog park one night, and when you go back the next day- they are gone. (Note the awkward part). Then a week later, you see a person at the same dog park- with your leash (and you KNOW it is yours because you MADE them yourself), just dragging on the ground, still connected to their dog. Awkward and irritating.

When you are checking out, and are buying gum/candy, but not for yourself- or not to be consumed soon, but the checked sets it on the counter for you anyways. And as nice as the thought is, you wish they had asked- like the used to. Then you just have to take it and awkwardly place it in a bag yourself.

(Ok, so far I have realized that only one of these things was actually on a blog/Facebook.)

Like when you see people post a normal statement as their Facebook status, and then ruin it with an ellipsis (You know, the dots, like these ones: ...). Such as: "My aunt gave me the new Wii..." or "I made the best quesadilla for lunch..." or another, "My daughter just woke up and said "World Domination" as her first word so I will go to Disney Land today..."
These are awkward. Can people not see that? (Of course, they are more awkward when I read them, but I can't remember how to make them awkward right now).

This picture really doesn't apply to much, but it is really super amazing.

When people are like, "I'm Pregnant! I am due in 9 1/2 months!".
I gotta admit, when I first found I was pregnant with Sariah- I knew nothing about it all, and announced at being about 6-7 weeks pregnant. I soon learned better and wish I had waited till I was in the 2nd trimester.
And I love that so many people are pregnant- I really do, and I don't mean to discourage anyone, it is just kinda funny. You are just so darn excited you don't want to hold it in- you want everyone to know and celebrate, and I get that.

So, yes. I of course wish I could remember all those awkward encounters I had, but, alas, I do not.

What are some of your favorite awkward moments this week?
